Tenth Grade, A Moment to Ponder
My tenth grade life was one of a kind. At first I
thought it would be hard as a rock but then it came out to be easy. I was a
four consecutive times cream of the crop in our class. I became one of the most
trusted students by my teachers because of my achievements. When I am not in
the mood to recite our classroom was quiet like a peaceful garden.
Since I was a roaring lion by that time my teachers
expected me to always give my best. Little did I know they were helping and
teaching me to boost my confidence. They
always made me a leader of a group and give me members that were not good in
their subject. To help those students who cannot cope up.
It was a humid late morning on November 2015 when
Mr. Saburnido my English Teacher told me to be his representative for essay
writing contest during the National Reading Month and National Book Week
celebration. All of a sudden I felt the butterflies in my stomach I was having
a dysmenorrhoea that time so I was thinking I cannot concentrate because of too
much pain. As my face gets oily my knees start to quiver but I did not lose
hope because my teacher was expecting me to be the winner although I told him
that I am not sure if I’m going to win. But still my teacher together with my
friends supported me. I just prayed to God to give me strength and wisdom. When
the closing program came all the contestants were invited to join the program
and to hear the announcing of winners. It was a blessing in disguise I never
really thought that my essay will be chosen. I was shocked when I heard my name
as the first place in essay writing because it was my first time. After the
program I saw my teacher and he congratulated me with a big smile on his face.
He gave me recognition in our classroom.
Through that experience I learned that when someone
trusted you do your best not to break it. Believe in my own capabilities and
learn to choose people who will not leave by your side. Though there will be
people around you that murmur show them
that you can be the light in their darkness. Use your skills to help others and
always give your best to succeed.
